Adenoidectomy, or Adenoid Removal Surgery, is the surgical removal of the adenoid glands. Adenoids protect the body against infections but can sometimes enlarge and become infected. Enlarged adenoids can cause respiratory problems, ear infections, and breathing cessation during sleep. These conditions are often seen in children aged 1 to 7 years. After the operation, the child's ability to fight infections is usually not affected.
